Inspired by Leonard Cohen's "Anthem", this 11 inch by 14 inch original acrylic painting on canvas features a pink human silhouette crazed with golden cracks who is holding a terra cotta pot full of swirling liquid. The figure stands next to a silver fountain at the exact moment that the sun breaks through as a rainstorm is passing. There is a hole over the figure's heart, but within that hole we can see that a passionate fire still burns.
Painted for and originally displayed in Cloudfolio's "Heartbreak" themed art show, Transmutation is a love letter to everyone grieving and to all of those who have found hope again after experiencing loss. It's a reminder that no matter how dark or violent a storm may be, it can't last forever. Eventually the sun returns.
It also reminds us that while healing takes work, breaking doesn't destroy us, and if handled with care that heady mix of joy, sorry, pain and hope can become the very elixir that brings us back to life.
It is signed with the artist's initials and year of creation on the front and the title and artist's full signature on the back
This piece is painted on a back stapled canvas approximately ½ inch thick.
The painting continues around all 4 edges of the canvas so it can be hung as is, or you can have it framed to your liking.
Although the painting will ship unframed, it will arrive with hanging hardware installed for your convenience.
The back is left open and unsealed to allow air flow.

The painting is sealed with 2 coats of acrylic varnish to protect from dust, dirt, and UV rays, however it is still best kept out of direct sunlight and in a smoke free environment.
Do not expose to extreme temperatures or high humidity.
Do not clean with abrasives, solvents, soaps, harsh chemicals or detergents.
If the painting must be cleaned, wipe the surface and edges with plain water on a soft, non abrasive cloth only.
Do not soak or immerse in water.
